Jay + Vicki | Oakhurst Country Club, Clarkston MI Wedding Photographer

When I first met Jay and Vicki, they were a little shy and quiet. But warmed up right away, when I asked about their story. Vicki and Jay were neighbors, she had seen him walk his dog every day, and thought what would it be like if she asked him, if they could walk their dogs together. She finally got the courage to ask, and of course he happily accepted, that's where it all began. I asked Jay about his proposal, he said that something happened, and she was going to have to move, he said he couldn't bare the thought of her not being next to him anymore. That's when he wanted to make her his wife, to be with each other...forever. My heart melted a little when he said that, these two truly have a love that is so deep, you can see it in their faces when they look at each other. I was so incredibly happy to capture this on their wedding day, and it got me excited, to one day, have a love like that. I am so happy you chose me as your wedding photographer, I hope you like your sneak peek :)

Who says you can't have 3 pairs of shoes on your wedding day? ;)

Loved these vintage details.

Love this...have you ever seen a happier man? Snapped this right after Jay said..."WOW" ;)

Happily sealing the deal.

It was super cold and windy out, but I had to get some shots outside, it's beautiful there!

Getting frisky!

Thankful.

I'm sorry I have been totally MIA. There have been a lot of new things/projects going on, plus some personal things going on. I started doing some product photography for Stacey Leuliette Gracious Living in Birmingham. I am also becoming more involved in The Brides Project. I want to help get the word out, so I will be helping with pictures for their website, so people can see how great their dresses are! If you buy one(they are also a great price), 100% goes to cancer research. It is all volunteers working there, everything i'm doing is going to be volunteer work, so if you want to be a part of it let me know!

It has also been extremely nice outside! I have been soaking it all up, spending time with family and friends. I am so thankful I am only doing my photography, especially now, when my family needs me most. My uncle, who I did a blog about a while ago, has been battling cancer for a little over two years, and things aren't going as good as they were. Hospice comes to his house now and we have all been taking turns spending time with him. He is one of the strongest people I know, and no matter what he's going through, he has the most positive attitude. I am so incredibly happy I can have times with just us, to talk about life. He loves gardening and he has been so sick, he hasn't been able to do it...so he said "oh, well...I guess that's just the way it is". We never talk about it, but him saying that made my eyes well up, and I had to look away. I try so so hard to be strong and not show my emotions around him. He is the one that's going through it and is so strong, so I try so hard not to show my weakness. I had a great day a couple days ago, went to the beach, saw him, rode bikes, hung out with family.   Some people probably think I don't have compassion sometimes, but I guess I don't know how to deal with sadness, I put it in the back of my mind and lock it up.  But, on the way home from his house that day, I broke down...alone in my car. I couldn't hold it in any longer. Going through this makes you realize what's important. Don't stress about the little things, and be happy with your life. If you want something, go out and get it. If you don't like something, change it. If you love someone, don't be afraid to tell them.

On to a happier note, I will be shooting some of my best friend's engagement photos this weekend and I couldn't be more excited. I rented some lenses and had some fun with them today:) I hope everyone is enjoying this weather, and please spread the word about the Brides Project, I truly appreciate it :)

Matt + Melissa | Engaged

Oh these two, I am jealous of the connection they have with each other. Not only are they madly in love, but they constantly laugh, which I LOVE. We immediately clicked as we were walking the streets of Birmingham, even though our fingers felt like they were going to fall off! Matt is living in Chicago now, and Melissa will soon be following once they get hitched. They have been together for a while, I heard about their whole love story while we were thawing out at Biggby. All from the first awkward date at Carribou (Sorry Matt :D), all the way to their proposal...where Matt asked her to marry him and had a limo pick them up to take them out to dinner :) They cracked me up, just listening to them talk about one another, I also found out that Matt has been in love with Melissa from day one ;) Oh, and those words came out of Melissa's mouth, ha! I had such a great time getting to know you and I can't wait to be a part of your wedding.  Looking through your photos made me smile, you will all be infected by their contagious smiles too! Now i'm going to go have some coffee on my porch and enjoy this beautifyl weather, happy Wednesday!
