WEDDING WEEK | On a Budget

I am so happy I had a day off yesterday....I definitely needed it.  This working full time thing is definitely taking up a lot of time but I am not going to let it get in the way.  Things are going really well, I met with another couple last night and we ended up talking for a couple hours and now I will be shooting their wedding in July :)  I absolutely love meeting new people and hearing their stories.  I wanted to do a post for brides on a budget.  The economy isn't the greatest right now, and because details make the wedding, you can totally do them on your own.  I went and lurked around my sister's room for some ideas. For her wedding, she did a ton of things herself...ebay baby.  She bought bird cages to put on all the tables with roses overflowing out of them. She also made her own programs that turned out amazing. I have 2 more days till I shoot my wedding and I had yesterday to let my mind run wild and have fun with my camera.  Here are some more shots I came up with, with things that were just lying around the house.

One of my favorite authors :)
I should be getting my lenses in the mail today, I can't wait to test them out!  And I can't wait to share Emily and Brian's special day with them, 2 more days! :D

WEDDING WEEK | Details

So as I am getting ready for my first wedding as the first shooter, I want to help all the brides out there with taking their photos to that NEXT level. When I photograph your big day, there is only so much I can do to create a different "look" for your photos. And of course I want the photos to reflect you as a couple, so any extra things that might describe you, think of how we can incorporate that into a picture.  For example, if you like classic cars, see if you know anyone that has one, to get pictures in. Here is also a post from the weddingchicks.com website that incorporates buttons in their big day.  Detail shots are one of my favorite things to do.  For example, for the ring shots or the shoe shots there are certain things you can look for around your house.  If I was getting married, I would want my wedding to be more of a vintage/rustic feel.  What I did the other day was look around my house for something that would play along in this dream I would have for my wedding day. My house is FULL of nicknacks which I don't necessarily like..but found perfect for this scenario:D Some brides don't realize how much the little details matter, they definitely not only make your pictures unique from anyone else's, but also your wedding overall. And after saying this, I don't mean to put everything on the bride because then what would I be there for?  I will definitely do everything I can to see things differently and capture it through my camera, that is why some people like my style in the first place. Here is what I came up with with looking around the house :D

There is also nothing I love more than a bride with funky shoes on her wedding day.  You don't have to wear white...you can wear ANY color you want ;)  You can even wear cowboy boots!  I also looked at my shoe rack and at all my chunky necklaces to find more of a vintage feel for those detail shots.

Some of my other favorite shoes and necklace I had to throw in there ;)

Watch Out 2011 | New WEBSITE!!!

I have been working on my new branding for the last couple months now. I liked what I had before, but as I grow as a photographer and discover new things, what I really like is the "romantic" feel.  You know, 2 people in love...in a big field getting ready for a picnic (I know I am a dork). Man it sounds so nice instead of what I see when I look out the window, COLD. Yuck. As much as I love photographing newborns and children I have been working with more and more couples. So far this year I have 7 weddings booked and couldn't be happier. My very first wedding as the 1st shooter is just around the corner and I am definitely ready for it. Since a new 5D Canon isn't in the budget YET, I wanted to rent a couple lenses just to get some unique images to get my wedding portfolio set! I first learned of Cameralenserentals from my cousin who is also a photographer in Austin, TX. So those of you living there, her website is marianneworlowphotography.com and check it out! Anyway, I went on there today and added the promo code "CLR" and got 10% off with my sweet purchases. For all of you photographers out there, I would recommend it.  I know Marianne loves them and they always get the lenses you rent on the date you need, sometimes even earlier. Sorry I don't have a picture today, this working full time thing has been keeping me busy!  Don't worry I will start to be on top of things :)
I wanted to share my BRAND NEW WEBSITE with everyone today. I am so excited and would love to hear what you think! Also, if you haven't had a chance to look at my 2010 recap, take a look! ;) Happy Tuesday!

Papyrus

It's weird...it doesn't really feel like Christmas to me,  even though this awful snow is on the ground and people have Christmas lights up.  I haven't bought one present yet either, I always wait till the last minute! One thing I HAVE done is finish my Christmas cards!  I just sent them out today but hey...at least I got them out before Christmas!  I love doing them, just to wish your friends and family a great xmas and let them know you are thinking about them. I have a friend who is probably the best crafter I know who sent over this Gem ;)

This was the first Christmas card I got and was from one of my favorite stores, Papyrus! Even though I would have LOVED to get my cards from there I decided to go the cheaper route and buy them from Target, and added my own Gems on there :) My sister is also coming home tonight so we will finally decorate our Christmas Tree :D Maybe once she gets here and we can go Christmas shopping together it will feel more Christmas Spirit! I hope everyone is having a great week so far and to all my friends from Chicago, I hope you have a safe trip home! And to all of your procrastinators out there...Christmas is in 3 days!!! CRAZY!
